Opuntia monacantha is native to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay and is naturalised in Australia and South Africa. This "dropping prickly pear" cactus has a long flat stem from which all new growth starts and is a shrubby cactus and a quick grower. This plant needs 3-6 hours of direct sunlight a day prefers to be potted in a well draining mix of pebbles and sand (our Cactus mix works great). Appreciating drought, like most cacti, this guy only needs to be watered every 2-3 weeks during spring, summer and fall and every 6-7 weeks during winter.
Plant shown in a 6" nursery pot. May be shipped bare root.
